      Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. They provide information and support through Helplines which people can call, text or email; online support including information, message boards and online support groups; and Helpfinder, an online directory of support services.

    • Bipolar UK

      Bipolar UK offer information, support groups, online support groups, and a telephone/email helpline for those affected by Bipolar. 

      There are support groups running in Penrith, Whitehaven, and Carlisle. Details can be found using the search tool on the Bipolar UK website.

  • Mental Health Information - Helping someone else

    • Carers UK

      Carers UK offer advice, information, and support to carers.

    • Carer Support Carlisle and Eden

      Carer Support Carlisle and Eden are contracted by Cumberland & Westmorland & Furness Councils to undertake Carers Assessments and develop Support Plans. They also, deliver activities, trips and other support for Young, Adult and Parent Carers.

      A Carers Assessment provides Carers with an opportunity to identify what could help them with their caring role. All Carers; Young and Adult, in the UK have a legal right to a Carers Assessment. All professionals working with Carers have a statutory obligation to ensure that Carers are given this opportunity.

      They provide information and advice to Carers and have a volunteer programme through which we can provide IT support, Sitting Service, Craft groups, lunch and coffee hubs; at which Carers meet regularly for mutual support. Young Carers can participate in school holiday trips and activities as well as receiving 1:1 support.
